Pinot Gris

White Wine
2025

Tasting note

A delightfully smooth and fresh 2025 Pinot Gris vintage. Granny Smith, fresh brioche, acacia, bergamot and a hint of honey. It starts off with a smooth mouth feel which immediately is taken over by a juicy acidity, much freshness and minerality. A wonderful long finish with perfectly balanced, elegant oak.

Description

With our Pinot Gris, we always strive for balance. We seek to strike a balance between elegance and strength, acidity and body, and fruit and wood. It is a wonderful accompaniment to food.

Grape Variety

100% Pinot Gris. Some of our oldest vines, planted in 1982 and 2000, are grown in the 42 acres of Pinot Gris.

Vineyard

Ratschelga and Heiligacker. The 22-acre Ratschelga vineyard is home to old Pinot Gris vines that were planted by Georg and Ruth in 1982. The 20-acre Heiligacker vineyard was planted in 2000.

Soil

The Ratschelga vineyard is located at our old site in the middle of the village. Our highest vineyard (590 m) is characterised by slate, limestone and magnetite. The soil of the Heiligacker (531 m) is characterised by loam and sand.

Viticulture

We cultivate our vines using natural, holistic methods. In accordance with the principles of regenerative agriculture, we use various seeds and compost teas, and we are certified organic by Bio-Suisse and Knospe.

Maturation

The Pinot Gris grapes are fully destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation. Malolactic fermentation is usually prevented, but occasionally a barrel or two may undergo MLF. The wine then rests for nine months in 300-litre barriques, 30% of which are new.
