Pinot Noir Village

Red Wine
2024

Tasting note

What power and elegance! The nose reveals aromas of sour cherry, strawberry, cassis, alpine herbs and eucalyptus. The palate is densely structured with great depth, yet has incredible finesse. This Pinot Noir Village has enormous potential and cannot be described as a 'basic Pinot Noir'.

Description

The Malanser Pinot Noir is a classic example of purity and elegance. This wine is the perfect reflection of a winery's quality. The grapes for the Pinot Noir Village wine are destemmed and fermented spontaneously before being aged for nine months in large, old 3,000-litre wooden barrels.

Grape Variety

100% Pinot Noir. We press the Pinot Noir Village using a blend of Swiss and Burgundy Pinot clones.

Vineyard

The grapes used to make Pinot Noir Village are grown in the Ratschelga, Küng, Selviteiler, Michel, Rüfiser and Bungertrechti vineyards in Malans.

Soil

The diverse vineyards reflect the typical Malans terroir, which is characterised by sediment from the mountains and the Rhine, and contains a high proportion of slate, humus and limestone.

Viticulture

We cultivate our vines using natural, holistic methods. In accordance with the principles of regenerative agriculture, we use various seeds and compost teas, and we are certified organic by Bio-Suisse and Knospe.

Maturation

The grapes used to make Pinot Noir Village are completely destemmed and fermented spontaneously. After a good two weeks on the skins, it is pressed. The wine is then stored in large wooden tanks dating from 1998 for nine months.
